My Online Book Blog

Welcome to my book blog!! Here you will find books I have read and my thoughts on them! I believe that in such a media dominated world that reading to learn, imagine, and think critically for ourselves is declining. By reading books, even fictional stories that we are told by some have no “substance”, we can learn valuable lessons and different perspectives that can help us flourish in our personal and professional lives. Reading is my favourite

About Me..

I am a 22 year old Canadian university student living in Red Deer, Alberta! Like every 20-something year-old, the only thing I truly know is that I don’t know anything. Although this feeling has been around my whole life, presenting in physical anxiety and periods of depression here and there, I also think my acknowledgement of naivety is proof that I easily have the ability to learn and think about my place in the world without feelings of pride or entitlement blinding me to different perspectives and experiences worldwide. Reading has most definitely been the cause of some existential dread and daunting questions, like “Why does anything I do matter?” as I became overwhelmed with knowledge I had not known existed before reading it in a book, prompting me to think about how much I really don’t know or maybe ever will know. But I think as humans it is our job to try and learn us much as we can about each other and our role in the world and how our actions impact each other if we have any motivation to leave the world a better place than when we entered it for future generations.

By reading, we can fulfill this motivation to have purpose in our lives as we can become active agents of our critical thinking and analysis skills, which we can apply to the media presented to us in the virtual age of today, which is often times biased towards one political affiliation or another and have an underlying strategy in its delivery to consumers, and not be manipulated by those who wish to control, exploit, or commodify us for their personal gain.
